One of my consorts (1) when I was a child was a amazing Croatian girl. She had a last name with a Z but because of my adopted family being German American we could not be together after school. That was the price of the secret religion for me,  a German last name.

For years she sat behind me in class, years and years.
I still love her to this very day, I always will.

The story tells us that Coprnice gather at crossroads at midnight, beneath the light of a full moon . There, they call upon demons and even the devil himself to aid them in bringing misfortune to all who cross their path.

There have been many legends that survived through Croatian history. Some were spread worldwide, and some remain unknown. One of these lesser known legends is the myth of Coprnice.
(1) late Middle English (denoting a companion or colleague): via French from Latin consors ‘sharing, partner’, from con- ‘together with’ + sorssort- ‘lot, destiny’. The verb senses are probably influenced by similar senses (now obsolete) of the verb sort .
